About the event

IJCAI Co-Located Event - Robot Expo at AICOR

The event offers IJCAI participants, researchers, and industry partners the opportunity to join a hands-on robotics exhibition to explore cutting-edge AI and robotics through scientific talks, live demonstrations, a panel discussion, and a networking reception. Hosted by the AICOR Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bremen, the event brings together the international AI research community and the German and European robotics ecosystem for an evening of scientific exchange and networking. The event will take place on 18 August 2026 from 18:30 to 21:30.

The AICOR Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bremen is a leading research institute dedicated to cognition-enabled robotics, advancing AI technologies that allow robots to autonomously understand and perform everyday tasks.

Panel discussion

Prospects and Impacts of Physical AI — How to Make It a Success

19:30–19:50

Moderator: Radu Rusu, CEO, Exponential VC

Research coordinators, company representatives, and funding bodies discuss how physical AI can move reliably from demonstration to deployment — from technical and organizational requirements to standards, benchmarks, open platforms, and sustained public investment.

Open laboratories and networking reception

Live robot demonstrations

19:50–21:30

Move freely between demonstration areas as research groups and companies present working systems. The catered networking reception runs in parallel.

Research demonstrations

  • Autonomous robots accomplishing everyday manipulation tasks
  • Laboratory robotics for scientific automation
  • Retail robots and service robotics in commercial settings
  • Learning robot manipulation from instruction videos and written instructions
  • Robot perception and scene understanding
  • Knowledge representation and reasoning for robot task execution
  • Plan-based control and AI-powered robot control architectures

Industry showcase

Start-ups and companies

At least five robotics start-ups and companies present products and technologies, coordinated through the Robotics Institute Germany Robotic Booster Program.

Networking reception Catering and conversations with European and German robotics researchers and industry representatives continue throughout the demonstrations.
